Jana Kolichis

Jana graduated from Murdoch University in 2005. She spent 18 months in general practice during which time she completed a 1 year post graduate course in small animal surgery through the University of Sydney. She then moved interstate to pursue her surgical career and completed a 14 month internship at the renowned Queensland Veterinary Specialists in 2008, followed by a second surgical internship at Advanced Vet Care in Melbourne in 2009. Jana was accepted by examination as a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (Small Animal Surgery chapter) in 2010, and has since been a mentor for new candidates.

Jana has spent the last 12 years working in specialist and referral hospitals and had had an extensive variety of surgical as well as emergency medicine training and is adept at managing very difficult and complex cases.

Jana is currently undertaking a surgical residency at Pet Emergency and Specialist Centre to fulfill the requirements to specialise in small animal surgery.

Whilst Jana loves all aspects of surgery, she has a real passion for thoracic and neurosurgery.

Outside of work you’ll find Jana climbing mountains, scaling high rockfaces or flying on a trapeze rig.
